Football Queensland (FQ) and Far North Queensland (FNQ) Football are pleased to announce the appointment of long-term local code stalwart Alex Srhoj to the position of Zone Administrator for FNQ Football.
Srhoj boasts a wealth of knowledge of both the football and broader local community having served the Mareeba United Bulls in a range of roles over the last two decades.
His most recent high profile football administration role was with the FNQ Bulls in the former Queensland Soccer League as Football Manager.
In addition to voluntary roles with Mareeba, Srhoj has been heavily involved in the delivery of the Brisbane Roar Active program in schools in the Tablelands region in recent years, and boasts coaching credentials including FFA Senior and Youth C licences.
“I am very honoured and excited to be offered this position,” Srhoj said of his appointment.
“I look forward to the administration, board, and football family working together towards a positive end of 2019 and a bigger and better 2020.”
FNQ Football Chairman Leo Ward said the zone was pleased with the appointment.
“We are looking forward to Alex taking on what will be a challenging but rewarding role. FNQ Football knows he will be able to hit the ground running and ensure we have a great end to the season and an enjoyable finals series,” Ward said.
FQ Chief Executive Officer Richard Griffiths said it was important that FQ assisted FNQ Football in appointing a replacement as soon as possible following the resignation of Matt Kelso from the position of General Manager.
“FQ will be funding this interim Zone Administrator position as we review the administration of football in Far North Queensland in the coming months,” Griffiths said.
“I have met Alex and he is certainly knowledgeable and passionate about the sport. FQ will be working closely with the FNQ Board and Alex to ensure the best possible delivery of football in the region.”
