Far North police continue to provide support to residents affected by wind and rainfall associated with Tropical Cyclone Trevor throughout Cape York.

Local police would like to thank the community for listening to our advice and staying safe as Trevor crossed Lockhart River yesterday and we had no reports of any serious injuries or incidents.

Whilst local police are helping with the clean up in Lockhart River, police are ready to support the western coast of Cape York around the Weipa and Aurukun communities.

People in those areas affected are urged to listen to advice and stay safe.

For those seeking assistance with non-life threatening situations such as help with a damaged roof, rising flood water, or storm damage phone the SES on 132 500.

For information and support phone the Community Recovery Hotline on 1800 173 349.
