Member for Cook meets the locals.

The member for Cook Cynthia Lui, met with locals yesterday in Mareeba as part of her mobile office tour across the electorate.

The Member for Cook Cynthia Lui, met with locals yesterday in Mareeba as part of her mobile office tour across the electorate.

It was Ms Lui’s second mobile office, since closing her Mareeba office in November of last year.

The member for Cook said “it’s been really good to hear from locals and sit down with them and have a conversation. I’m most appreciative when people are happy to share their views, positive or negative with me.”

A number of people came prepared with issues “I’ve met with a wide range of people, including local councillors and concerned residents”

A few local residents arrived early wanting to spend time chatting with the Local Member including Ross from Mareeba who wanted to talk about the Hospital, Dialysis and a CT scanner.

Julie from Mareeba who wanted to talk about a private legal matter and Rhonda Carlsen and Veronica O’Sullivan (pictured) who wanted to chat about a blue card issue.

“People have stopped by to talk about a range of issues like native title, local crime, antisocial behaviour and the upcoming council round table”

Ms Lui also said the Mobile office would be returning soon

“I'd like to have a mobile office in Mareeba about once a month, so I’m hoping to have another mobile office in Mareeba in March.”
