With the long weekend only hours away, the Department of Environment and Science (DES) has announced more closures affecting local national parks and swimming holes.

DES just posted on their website: "Due to COVID-19 risk and social distancing requirements, certain visitor facilities within Wooroonooran National Park will be closed from 10 April until further notice.

This is a necessary precaution to safeguard the health and safety of the community.

Closed due to high risk:

  • All camping areas

  • Josephine Falls section including day-use area, walking track and swimming area

  • Goldsborough Valley section including day-use area and walking tracks

  • Mount Bartle Frere trail

  • Behana Gorge including walking track and swimming areas.

We ask that people do not attempt to visit any of the areas that are closed unless authorised, for their and their community's safety and protection. Compliance with the closures will be monitored.

We thank park users and the community for their support and cooperation during this time."

For more information follow Queensland Health directives to stay up to date with the latest COVID-19 advice.
