Tablelands police issued eight notices to people for failing to comply with the Chief Health Officer’s directive over the Easter long weekend.
This ANZAC Day police are asking us to be mindful of the restrictions still in place concerning non-essential travel and social distancing rules.
Police are reminding people that you should only leave the house for essential reasons like obtaining food, medical treatment, work or physical exercise and you can only do this with other members of the household or one other person.
Acting Inspector Kyell Palmer suggested residents find ways to recognise armed services personnel at dawn, from the safety of their homes.
“Don’t break social distancing rules and make sure you adhere to the relevant restrictions,” Acting Inspector Palmer said.
“We continue to urge people to be mindful of inaccurate advice pertaining to health matters and ensure that the information they are following is up to date.
"Public services to commemorate Anzac Day have been cancelled, but people will still be able to watch the live telecast of the dawn service from the Australian War Memorial."
Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk said due to the important social distancing measures, this Anzac Day will be different.
She said Queenslanders can pay their respects via live broadcasts, new technology and home services.
“We can all play our part to light up the dawn on our driveways and verandahs at 6.00am,” Ms Palaszczuk said.
You can watch the national commemorative service live from the Australian War Memorial on ABC TV and iView from 5am on Saturday 25 April.
The service will also be live-streamed on https://www.awm.gov.au/, and also on Facebook and YouTube.
