A partnership between the Mareeba Garden Settlement and the Historical Society of Mareeba is set to help keep Mareeba’s and the Tablelands’ history alive.

The partnership, which began in March, consists of monthly visits and is aimed at providing residents with the opportunity to share their memories of Mareeba and the Tablelands to keep the history of the region alive according to the General  manager Blue Care Far North Queensland Liz Brown.

“Many of our residents have a lifetime of memories to share and the resources of the Historical Society help them engage with their past,” she said. “Our residents are excited by the opportunity to discuss their lives and tell their stories and are already looking forward to the next catch up.”

Ms Brown also noted that she would like to thank those at the Historical Society of Mareeba for giving the residents such a wonderful opportunity.

For those in the community who are in interested in learning a bit more about the region’s history, the Historical Society of Mareeba is located at 345 Byrnes Street, Mareeba.
