Atherton’s main street works near completion
ATHERTON’S main street works will be ending soon with the safety upgrades to multiple crossings being completed and fencing to be installed by the end of August.
ATHERTON’S main street works will be ending soon with the safety upgrades to multiple crossings being completed and fencing to be installed by the end of August.
These upgrades are part of a $17.27 million program of road safety upgrades, the same program that Mareeba shared in for their new wombat crossings.
Atherton however only had upgrades done to their crossings including new pedestrian fencing, a pedestrian facility and small speed bumps before their zebra crossings.
A Department of Transport and Main Roads spokesperson said that the works were done to improve safety in Atherton’s CBD.
“We thank all road users for their patience and ask pedestrians to cross with care during the final construction stages,” they said
