His songs are Australian as they come. For a good part of five decades John Williamson has sung about everything that makes Australia unique.

Whether it’s the mateship in “True Blue”, the rareness of rain falling on Uluru in “Raining on the Rock”, or the simplicity and beauty of “Cootamundra Wattle” Williamson has for years captured what it means to be Australian and live down under.

Since performing “Old Man Emu” on TV program “New Faces” way back in 1970 the Aussie icon hasn’t looked back, his legacy as one of the best and most enduring local artists to live on forever.

An ARIA Hall of Fame member, the Aussie icon has won three ARIA awards, four APRA awards, eight TSA Awards, eight MO Awards, 24 million Golden Guitar awards and more than four million albums.

In a major coup Far North fans will get the opportunity to witness the wizardry and class of Williamson when he performs at Savannah in the Round country music and camping festival this October in Mareeba.

Williamson will perform on the main stage on Sunday, October 3 from 5.45pm.
