HERBERTON locals will be participating in the Great Northern Clean Up on September 12 as a way to make their small town more appealing to travellers and locals alike.

Event organiser Tim Fisher said this event is very important for the town and anyone is welcome to come along.

“We will meet at 8am outside the council building and we will decide where to clean up from there,” he said.

“From there we will choose which street needs the most cleaning up.

“I think it's important that the town looks good and with the rubbish strung around everywhere and it doesn’t make the town look very good, especially to the people visiting at this time of the year.”

Registrations will take place at the front of the old Council building on Grace Street from 8am, with participants being urged to wear enclosed shoes, gloves and a hat. Rubbish bags will also be provided.
