CRIMESTOPPERS is looking to push out of Mareeba and make its presence known in the southern Tablelands as the local Volunteer Area Committee is looking for like-minded, motivated volunteers.

The Far North Queensland Volunteer Area Committee (FNQVAC) was only formed three years ago but it comprises of passionate volunteers of Crime Stoppers who wanted to make a difference in their community.

The FNQVAC does not just cover Mareeba but the whole of the Tablelands and now they are asking for volunteers to help them in other towns including Atherton.

FNQVAC Chair Mladen Bosnic is asking for registered members of Crime Stoppers Queensland to put their hand up and get involved in the FNQVAC.

“We need to expand into Atherton, it is the other major town on the Tablelands, so we need to get people there on board,” he said.

“We want people to step forward from Atherton and be part of the committee.

“The committee wants to expand into some of the major towns and bring the message there, but we can only do that if we can recruit locals from those towns.

“We need people in these towns to step up and say, ‘we will be part of the committee’.”

To be a part of the FNQVAC and help bring Crime Stoppers to the southern Tablelands you first need to be registered on Crime Stoppers Queensland.

From there Crime Stoppers Queensland will be in contact with the FNQVAC informing them you want to be a part of Crime Stoppers.
