Foundation principal awarded high honour

IN celebration of Catholic Education Week two weeks ago, St Stephen's Catholic College (SSCC) honoured their past and founding principal, Gerard Simon with the inaugural Saint Stephen’s Medal.

IN celebration of Catholic Education Week two weeks ago, St Stephen's Catholic College (SSCC) honoured their past and founding principal, Gerard Simon with the inaugural Saint Stephen’s Medal. 

Principal Kerry Manders said that the award is annually presented to an outstanding member of the community who demonstrates the values of SSCC’s Patron, Saint Stephen. 

“The recipient will have exemplified the service of St Stephen and walked in the footsteps of our College Patron and the recipient, like Saint Stephen, demonstrates what it means to follow Christ with faith, service and courage,” she said.

“As the foundation Principal, Mr Simon certainly contributed long-standing service and outstanding commitment to the College and exemplified the service of Saint Stephen in his everyday actions with staff, students and families. 

“Like Saint Stephen, Mr Simon truly demonstrates what it means to follow Christ with faith, service and courage.” 

Mr Simon was awarded a medal and a lapel pin which features a palm branch, representing the calling and challenge to follow Saint Stephen.
