It's time for a story

COUNCILLORS from Mareeba Shire were given a special honour last week when they took part in Simultaneous Story Time at three libraries.

This is the 22nd year Simultaneous Story Time has made its way to libraries and schools across the country, with children sitting down to read the same book at the same time. 

This year, “Family Tree” by Josh Pyke was chosen as the book to be shared, with Deputy Mayor Cr Kevin Davies reading to children at Mareeba Library, Cr Mario Mlikota taking on Dimbulah Library and Cr Lenore Wyatt reading at Kuranda Library.

 Library staff read the story at Chillagoe Library. Cr Davies said he enjoyed the company of the young kids, taking the time to read about a heartfelt celebration of family, community, and the seasons of life to cherish and share.
