Maree Lopez and mums across the country will celebrate Mother's Day today.

MUMS across Far North Queensland will be rightfully spoiled today as adoring husbands, children and family members give thanks and appreciation to the wonderful mothers in their lives.

Among those to receive her timely and well-deserved bit of recognition will be well-known Mareeba mum Maree Lopez.

The Express took the opportunity to shine the light on Ms Lopez, just one of many mothers around the region who continue to make amazingly selfless contributions to both their local communities and families alike.

The St Stephen’s Catholic College office manager is one busy lady. On any one day Ms Lopez wears several different hats as she volunteers her time across Mareeba Rotary (President), Mareeba Junior Rugby League (Secretary), Mareeba Friends of the Hospital Foundation (Committee Member), Mareeba Cricket (Volunteer) and Mareeba Debutante Ball (Volunteer) and The Express tips our hat to her and all the other amazing mums for, well, being amazing.

“For me it's (about) giving back to the community; we want Mareeba to thrive and to build a strong community,” Ms Lopez said.

“It's about being able to provide options and possibilities for our kids.

“The friendships I have formed over the years is something that I will always treasure. I've met so many different people.”
