COOK Member Cynthia Lui attended the launch of “Strait to the plate” last week – a five part television series which will showcase the wonderful array of food and beautiful landscape of the Torres Strait.

The SBS commissioned series is hosted by the Torres Strait’s own Aaron Fa’aoso and is expected to generate $830,000 for the local Torres Strait economy. The series was shot on the islands of Badu, Poruma.

“I had the wonderful opportunity to attend the premiere of Strait to the Plate at Parliament House,” Ms Lui said just days ago.

“The series is centred around food; it (also) brought to light the uniqueness of the region, its beauty, culture and people.”

The first episode aired on April 22, with the show airing on Thursday nights from 7.30pm.
