THEY provided smiles and welcomed happiness amidst the general doom and gloom of COVID last year. Now a creative doctor based in Brisbane has plans to bring his self-built array of giant sculptured animals to the region as part of his wider Carnival of Joy state tour.

Last year, when restrictions allowed Bellbowrie artist and GP Dr Farvardin Daliri continued with his ongoing mission of providing general community connectivity and happiness by taking his travelling roadshow of steel-designed animals including a kookaburra, cockatoo and koala around Brisbane and through the suburbs.

Now the overwhelmingly popular sculptures, which are permanently anchored to the back of car trailers are coming to a location near you with the convey due to hit the Tablelands on August 22.

“We can’t wait to visit Mareeba and possibly Atherton on the statewide tour which starts in Brisbane on July 8 and wraps up on September 23,” Mr Daliri told The Express from Brisbane.

“We haven’t confirmed exactly where we’ll pull up yet in Mareeba, generally we’ll confirm that closer to the arrival date.

“If there is a school, a business or a group who want us to specifically make a stop and visit them, we warmly welcome a donation – any donations we receive go towards covering transport and logistics costs such as fuel and accommodation. “We’ll try and make as many stops as possible so we can talk and meet with everyone.”

Mr Daliri’s animals and travelling roadshow garnered international media attention last year. If you wish to have a personal visit from the Carnival of Joy tour please visit www.carnivalofjoy. com.au.
