Two local teams will take part in the 1500km event on 30 August.

To help promote the event, organiser Jeanette Gegg and runners took over the Atherton Parkrun at Platypus Park on Saturday.

Ms Gegg has had personal experience with domestic violence and knows many others who have suffered in the same situation.

“It hits close to home, I was lucky enough I got out early thanks to family but it is just so people know there is help out there,” she said.
