Emily Curcio is just an average school girl from Mareeba State High School (MSHS) with a huge talent for baking. Her inspiration was not Adriano Zumbo, but the cake store down the road.

Her love for Teeze Cakes has inspired two of her greatest and favourite creations, a rainbow dripping cake and a Jack Daniel’s cake.

Emily started her business “Emily’s Creations” last year during the school holidays after spending most of her life baking with her mum Jennifer.

She said that her business was a hit almost immediately, especially when she started going to the Mareeba Markets and donating profits to local charities.

“My mum asked me who I would like to donate to and I wanted to do an animal related one because I love animals, so I chose to donate a lot to the Mareeba Animal Refuge,” she said.

“Things started getting bigger when I started donating to them and they asked me if I wanted to do a cupcake drive.

“Sandy from the Animal Refuge also donates eggs sometimes but otherwise I set aside some of my profit from the markets to pay for all the ingredients.”

Emily is currently hosting a cupcake drive in support of the Mareeba Animal Refuge.

Forms that can be filled out at The Seconds shop, Mareeba Hospital, Fantasy Tails, Vets in IGA and 1st Concept Salon in Mareeba.
