AYDEN Mann, a grade five student from Mareeba State School (MSS) will be featured in the Queensland College of Teachers (QCT) 2022 calendar after winning their 2021 Photo Competition.

The competition highlighted the theme “look how far we have come” and the high standards of teaching in Queensland.

The school’s submission which they named “Connecting to the Deaf Community” Principal of MSS Hannah Simpson said that the photo submitted displays the school’s approach to inclusive practises.

“MSS is very proud of our inclusive approach, particularly to our deaf or hard of hearing students,” she said.

“The photo of Ayden demonstrates this inclusiveness and the way that he can connect to our sister school Toowong State School through weekly video lessons.

“The photo also compliments our AUSLAN Choir at the primary school, who is a regional winner in inclusive practices.”
