AFTER starting just four years ago Bridgette Godfrey has achieved her goal of becoming a professional bodybuilder, winning her first World Beauty Fitness and Fashion (WBFF) competition.

The Tablelands local started her sporting career in school where she took part in running, athletics, touch football and other activities.

Bridgette then moved to the Gold Coast in 2018 where she observed bodybuilders at her local gym while training for a marathon.

It was then she decided to swap the treadmill for some weights and her journey to become a professional bodybuilder began.

“I started lifting weights and I did my first show 15 weeks later so not long at all,” she said.

“I came fifth in my first show, I was super tiny I hadn’t been lifting weights for long.

“It built from there and I had a full year of training then I came back and competed again coming second in my second show.”

After an extended time in training due to COVID Bridgette returned this year and ended up winning her third official show as a bikini diva model, giving her a pro card.

Now with a pro card under her belt Bridgette is eyeing off the WBFF Australia PRO/AM in October, competing as a professional for the first time.

“I cannot wait, it’s going to be a bit scary because the competition and the lineup is going to be a lot harder,” Bridgette said.

“After I done my first show I really found a love for competing.

“Although it’s a competition I like to focus on me and my improvements."
