Yazmindi gears up for Savannah in the Round
A YOUNG North Queensland artist is gearing up to perform at Savannah in the Round come October, excited to sing with some of the best Australian country music stars.
A YOUNG North Queensland artist is gearing up to perform at Savannah in the Round come October, excited to sing with some of the best Australian country music stars.
Yasmin Morris otherwise known by her stage name of Yazmindi was born in Cooktown into a musically gifted family.
Following in her lineage Yasmin pursued a career in music travelling across the country performing and writing her own songs.
Yasmin got the chance to perform In the Savannah Summer Series last year and ended up securing a spot in the bigger Savannah in the Round concert this Queens Birthday weekend in October.
“I was singing with the Roadtrippers which is my family band from Cooktown,” she said.
“James Dein really loved me and my presence on the stage last year so I secured my own spot this year.
“I am really excited because I will have my own band for this performance when I usually play solo."
The 23-year-old has not only been gearing up to perform in Savannah in the Round but also in the studio producing her first album set to release before the concert.
“I feel super free when I perform music and growing up in a musical family It came naturally to me,” she said.
“Music becomes an avenue for me to connect with other people and express myself.
“I don’t just write love songs I write about funny things and things that people can relate to.”
Yazmindi will join a host of other Australian country music artists such as Lee Kernaghan, Casey Barnes, John Williamson and many other big names come October.
Tickets are now on sale for the Savannah in the Round concert and accommodation venues across the Tablelands are already seeing their October bookings swell.
