The Peninsula Developmental Road (PDR) is closed to traffic between Laura and Weipa due to flooding.

Transport and Main Roads North Queensland Regional Director Sanjay Ram said flooding was normal during the annual wet season and urged motorists to plan in advance their Easter holiday travel.

"The region has received significant rainfall, including weather generated from ex-Cyclone Imogen earlier this year," Mr Ram said. “The PDR has been closed to all traffic at Archer River Bridge since January 2021.

"Inspectors are monitoring the flooding and maintenance crews will carry out any repairs needed to the road as soon as conditions permit.”

Mr Ram said the PDR would reopen as soon as it was safe for road users. “We thank motorists for their patience and ask them to drive to the conditions,” he said.
