SES Recruitment night.

As the cyclone season approaches the Ravenshoe SES is now looking for volunteers to help fill their ranks.

As the cyclone season approaches the Ravenshoe SES is now looking for volunteers to help fill their ranks.

The SES is open to anyone from 16 years and up and anyone who is able to spare a few hours helping.

Ivan Evans who is the SES Ravenshoe group leader said that they had recently been busy helping to find missing people in bushland.

“We have been called out about four times in the last year to scour through bushland helping to find missing people,” he said.

"This year we are also looking at upgrading our equipment so we are going to be very busy."

Mr Evans said anyone who is fit and able can join the SES. 

"Lots of people think you have to be retired to join the local SES, that’s not true it’s open to anyone from the age of 16 years and up," he said.

"We are looking for people from all ages and backgrounds to join, lend a hand a become part of the community.” 

The recruitment and information session is taking place at 12 – 16 Theta Street in Ravenshoe inside the SES and fire station building on January 19 from 7 – 9pm. For more information email Ivan.Evans@SES.QFES.qld.gov.au
