QUEENSLAND Museum Network and Mareeba Shire Council have formed a partnership to deliver some amazing learning resources to primary school students across the Shire.

Mareeba Shire Council have partnered with Queensland Museums to become one of three Regional Loans Museum Depot’s in Far North Queensland who can deliver access to free curriculumbased learning museum kits, specimens and artefacts for primary schools to use to engage their students in learning.

Local primary schools can book a learning kit from any Mareeba Shire library branch to enliven their classroom lessons.

The QM Loans have been specifically designed to support and extend the current primary school curriculum and engage learners in the classroom.

“Council is proud to support Queensland Museums and provide students across the Shire with the opportunity to explore exhibits which would previously only have been accessible by visiting a Queensland Museum in person,” a MSC spokesperson said.

“Council is grateful for the opportunity to support Queensland Museums by being involved in this wonderful opportunity to enhance the learning experience of our remote students.

“The libraries will freight the kits to Chillagoe, Dimbulah and Kuranda on request of the local school.”

During semester two, primary schools can borrow a kit on Queensland Primary Industries.

In addition, teachers can search for kits which match their learning outcomes and ask that the library service request from Queensland Museums for the following semester.
