THERE was atmosphere aplenty at Arnold Park on Saturday as it played host to the annual Mareeba Multicultural Festival.

The festival celebrated the region’s cultural diversity through music and food, and 2019’s instalment was hailed as a resounding success by Mareeba Multicultural Festival President Jennifer Murat.

“The event was fantastic, I’m not exactly sure how many people came through the gates but I’m not sure we’ve had one as big as today,” Ms Murat said.

“With the amount of food stalls and performers we’ve had today, it has definitely exceeded our expectations which is great.”

Ms Murat said the Mareeba Multicultural Festival is so important because the community doesn’t get too many opportunities to celebrate the diversity that exists within the region.

“A day like today enables everyone to come together and that’s what a community is about,” she said.

“It’s great to see people who are proud of where they come from and we love highlighting that as a community.”

Ms Murat said she would like to thank the Mareeba Multicultural Festival Committee, the event’s major sponsors, the food stall holders, performers and members of the Tablelands community who ensured this year’s festival was such a success.
