Music lovers across the Tablelands now have a new home to watch live music.
Music lovers across the Tablelands now have a new home to watch live music.
The Tablelands Music Lovers (TML) started in Kairi in 2004 at Loie McAdam’s house as a bunch of musicians who wanted to jam and see each other play live. Since 2017 they have called the Orb in Atherton their home.
TML had to shut in March due to COVID-19 restrictions and then due to social distancing rules they had to find a new venue which could accommodate more people while still practising social distancing.
Their first gig since COVID was in their new bigger home at the Grand Hotel on Main Street in Atherton on Friday night.
TML Secretary Ann Lowis said they could have only about 30 people in each room but with news on Friday afternoon from the state government about restrictions being relaxed from October 1, they are hoping to be able to invite more people more often.
“Friday night was a great night, for our first night back it was a huge success with great live music and a great crowd,” she said.
“A massive thanks to our organisers, musicians, volunteers and of course all TML supporters and music lovers who came together to enjoy a night of local music.
“This week we will have to make a decision as to how many people we can fit in with the new rules, what we would ultimately like to do is hold an event every Friday night but at this stage, we are not sure when the next event will be.”
For only $10 music lovers got to see three local bands including Good Ol Daze, The Billy Turner Trio, Hell Western Crooked plus soloist Rhylee Wilkinson as well as the opportunity to bond with fellow music lovers.
