TABLELANDS Regional Council (TRC) businesses have received an influx of ready to work trainees after TRC filled seven new traineeships and one apprenticeship.
The positions were made possible by funding from the Queensland Government’s First Start Program and positions range from Plumbing, Horticulture, Finance, Civil Maintenance and many more.
TRC Deputy Mayor Kevin Cardew is happy to provide these learning positions to passionate and enthusiastic workers.
“We are committed to finding ways to provide skill development, training and career opportunities in the community,” he said.
“We received over 250 applications and were able to narrow the list down to about 50 passionate and enthusiastic candidates.
“After a rigorous selection process, we found our final eight and have welcomed them to our workplace.”
Rebekah Sellwood is one of the new trainees currently undergoing a Horticulture traineeship through TRC directly.
Even though the position is challenging, Rebekah loves every minute of her new job.
“It’s an opportunity that I didn’t want to pass up and hopefully there’s a fulltime job at the end of it either in the field I’m in now or another field,” she said.
