Held at their clubhouse and track from 4pm to 6pm, the come and try day provides interested kids and parents with a chance to try their hand at BMX.

Riders as young as two to over 60 participate in BMX across the country, it is a sport that can offer something for riders of all ages and abilities.

Atherton BMX Club president Mick Gadsby is inviting families to come along to their come and try day this weekend and join in on some biking fun.

“The Atherton BMX Club is a very family orientated club. We have families that started out with just the kids riding and now we have the kids, mums and dads riding too,” he said.

“BMX is a sport that offers riders individual choice as to how little or how much they want to put in.

“It can be just for fun or riders can pursue higher development opportunities.

Long term club member and rider, 14-year-old Aidan Moses has been riding since he was four and he is encouraging other kids to get involved.

“It is great fun racing around the track jumping the jumps,” he said.

“You meet heaps of different people too.”

Attendees are encouraged to stay after the come and try day to watch club racing from 6.30pm.

The Atherton BMX Club is located off Grove Street Atherton, behind Tablelands Hardware.
