BMX series lands in Atherton
BMX riders from across Queensland will descend on the Atherton BMX Club this coming weekend for the second round of the Auscycling BMX QLD State Series.
BMX riders from across Queensland will descend on the Atherton BMX Club this coming weekend for the second round of the Auscycling BMX QLD State Series.
The event is part of a six round state competition seeing riders earn series points from each series event they attend.
With almost $2500 in prize money up for grabs for the Superclass Men and Women riders, Atherton BMX Club President Andrew Moses, is expecting a good turnout.
“This is the first event of this kind the club has hosted and we are certainly looking forward to some fast and exciting racing,” he said.
“As the majority of this series is being held in the south east corner of the state, it is a fantastic opportunity for us to showcase the Far North and Tableland region.”
With very little BMX events being held over the past 12 months, Mr Moses said riders were very eager to race.
“We have riders as young as two right through to 50 plus and everywhere in between that are keen to race,” he said.
“We are anticipating over 200 riders to hit the track over the weekend which is awesome.”
Riders can expect quick and fast racing with some of the best talent across the State on display.
Mr Moses encourages anyone interested in coming to watch this event to come down to the track and take a look.
“Admission to the event is free and spectators are more than welcome to come down and check out some fantastic racing,” he said.
The series takes place over this coming Saturday and Sunday with the first day on racing starting at 2pm on Saturday.
