Carroll wins Boxers at War title

THE Mareeba Workers Club was packed to the brim on Saturday night as Bryde’s Boxing Gym’s Matthew (The Cobra) Carroll went head-to-head with Aaron Rapliza from Art of Strength Townsville in Boxers at War 9.

Carroll had previously gone up against Rapliza before in the ring and came out victorious, this time was no different with Carroll taking home the belt. 

Rapliza gave it his all however Carroll’s determination pushed him over the edge, with the referee raising his arm in victory in a unanimous points decision. 

Another local boxer, Raymond Haines also sho cased his boxing skills in a exhibition bout. Haines’s skills shined as he boxed through four rounds with Josh Harris from Buzzers Gym Port Douglas. 

While in the Masters division, Wayne Cutter won his fight against fellow Master's boxer Kym Hunter. 

Another feature was the three-way exhibition with the Shaw sisters from Hawkes Boxing Townsville, Destiny and Trinity, tag teaming against master’s boxer Bron De Lange from Shock boxing Ingham. 

The fight left the crowd on their feet and cheering.
