With a little bit of planning and a stroke of luck, Tolga horse trainer Roy Chillemi was able to take out first, second, third, fourth and fifth in a six horse race.

Racing in the recent Cairns Jockey Club meet on Tuesday, February 23, Mr Chillemi was able to put in five of his horses in the QTIS (Queensland Thoroughbred Incentive Scheme) Jewel Qualifier Three-Year-Old Plate.

This caused him to monopolize the top positions and take away four races’ worth of winnings for just one race.

Such a situation doesn’t happen often in the racing world but sometimes the stars and the situation align and a trainer is able to put forward multiple horses in one race.

Mr Chillemi said that this is not something he often aims for but this time he had the right horses needed for the race.

“I’m an old trainer but I train a lot of young horses 85 per cent of my stable consists of young horses,” he said.

“It’s like winning four races for one race and if you race in the country it’s like winning eight races.

“It’s not easy to do, it’s not something that happens often.”

Robig ended up being the winning horse out Mr Chillemi’s five horses scheduled for the race, due to this Robig has qualified for the $300,000 Jewel race on the Gold Coast, if Mr Chillemi decides to send him down to race.

Outnumbered Bele Adele who came in last place did not have much of a chance going up against five other horses all running for the same trainer.

“If he would have run a place it wouldn’t have bothered me,” Mr Chillemi said.

“I don’t normally aim for this kind of thing but luck just come my way.”
