Griffin recently cut ties with the Northern Pride and will return home to be a fulltime Atherton Rooster next year.

The former Atherton junior and senior player last played with the Senior Roosters back in 2009 before moving onto win QRL Intrust Super Cup premierships with the Northern Pride and Ipswich Jets. Also during his career, Rodney has represented PNG and had stints with NRL clubs the West Tigers and the Bulldogs.

Senior Roosters head coach Graham Clark welcomed the signing of Rodney Griffin who will bring a wealth of experience to the red, white and blue.

“The fact that Rodney grew up in Atherton is also a positive for the local sporting community and it is great to welcome him home, ”Clark said.

“He has played a lot of footy and brings important experience to the playing group we are building for next year.”

The much travelled Rodney Griffin said he had always planned to finish his career at Atherton and looked forward to being a Rooster again next season.

“It is fantastic to be able to finish where I started and I can’t wait for the new season,” Griffin said.

“It means a lot to me coming back here and giving back to the community.”

Following the Christmas break, the Senior Roosters will resume pre-season training on Thursday 6 January.
