Mareeba gymnasts show out at regionals

MAREEBA’S senior gymnasts have been working hard during their current competition season with six gymnasts recently competing in Townsville for the Senior Regional Championships.

Angelina Tulloch, Brydie Genge, Dayna Pearce, Frank Tulloch, Myles Dobbs-Brown and Oliver Hampton all travelled down to Townsville to compete with some achieving first and second places on their apparatus. 

Tulloch placed 2nd on uneven bars, and 3rd overall, Pearce placed 1st on vault, 2nd on bars, 3rd on floor and 2nd overall, and Genge achieved 1st on vault, 2nd on bars, 3rd on beam, and 2nd overall. 

The Mareeba Gymnastics Club male gymnasts did just as well with Tulloch placing 1st on all six apparatus, achieving 1st overall as well as Dobbs-Brown who placed 1st on all six apparatus as well, getting 1st Overall while Hampton took home 2nd on floor, 1st on rings, 1st on high bar and 4th overall.

Mareeba Gymnastics Club coach Kelly Tulloch was extremely proud of her gymnast’s performances over the championships. 

“All gymnasts competed extremely well and all qualified for Senior States which will be held in Brisbane next weekend,” she said. 

“As their coach I was very happy with all the athletes as they displayed great determination to get in and get the job done.” 

Now these gymnasts will be heading off to Brisbane this weekend to compete in the Senior State Championships from Friday 1 April to Monday 4 April.
