THE Atherton Cricket Club held its annual general meeting recently with Tony Potts taking up the reigns as new club president for the 2019-20 season.

Tony will still be pursuing his current role within the club as the Junior Coaching Coordinator as well as his new responsibilities as president.

Tony was unfazed by his induction stating, “I don’t get nervous.”

“It’s just another role, doesn’t really bother me,” he said.

“We had to have a president to keep the club afloat.

“No one else wanted to do it.”

His goal for the foreseeable future is the juniors he said.

“We’ve got to keep the juniors coming through,”

“We’ve had an increase of 70 to 160 juniors.

“I’m going to focus on getting those numbers higher.”

Other committee members are Lee Hunter taking up the vice presidents roll, Deana Nasser Treasurer and Kylie Coleman is the new secretary.

The new season will kick off in August.
