ATHERTON have moved to the top of the Cricket Far North ladder 2-day competition after a 1st Innings and outright win over Cassowary Coast at Loder Park on Saturday.

ATHERTON have moved to the top of the Cricket Far North ladder 2-day competition after a 1st Innings and outright win over Cassowary Coast at Loder Park on Saturday.

Atherton resumed their innings 2-94 with Paul Nasser 22 and Chris Adams 21. Paul Nasser continued his purple patch of form belting 63 runs off 43 balls to top score for Atherton with 85 off 93.

Pauls total included seven 4's and four 6's and featured a 60 run partnership with Chris Adams (35) and 67 run partnership with Tom Boorman (24). Atherton added 132 runs off 15 overs before declaring their innings 6-226 with a lead of 88 runs.

Opening bowler Seppe Barletta did early damage taking the first three wickets to have Cassowary 3-41 before the spinners came on and tied up the batsmen.

Michael Salerno gave a spin bowling exhibition taking 5-18 off eleven overs. Dan Parnell was rewarded with a wicket and Seppe picked up the final wicket to finish the match and claim an outright win.

Cricket now takes a break for christmas returning January 4, 2020 when Atherton v Barron River at Crathern Park.

Congratulations to Michael Salerno on recent selection in the Queensland Country team. This will be Michael's 9th Championship with the Brahman's who will be competing at the Australian Country Championships in Toowoomba in January 2020.
