TINAROO Dam is set to come alive this weekend with the annual Barra Bash hitting the lake.

The massive weekend attracts anglers from all across the region for a chance at the huge prizes that are up for grabs, with the main prize being a lump sum of $10,000 cash.

The three day competition kicks off this Friday November 8 and continues until Sunday November 10. The catch and release competition has only risen in popularity since 1990 when the event was first introduced.

All catches must be recorded via the ‘Track my Fish’ App which allows officials to see and judge the catches in real time, allowing a much easier and smoother competition.

Event Coordinator Ann Leighton and the committee have been working non-stop in the past six months to ensure a wonderful and successful 2019 Barra Bash.

Laurie Wright from the Tableland Fish Stocking Society is excited for this year’s event and hopes to see many people out on the water.

“There have been quite a few online registrations and from previous Barra Bash’s we are expecting anywhere from 500 to 700 nominations,” he said.

“With more than 100,000 barramundi fingerlings being stocked in the lake over the past four years this year’s Barra Bash should see plenty of fish caught.
“Without the support of the numerous sponsors from all over the Tablelands this event could not go ahead.”

With Lake Tinaroo boasting 19 world record sized barramundi (as of March 2019), it makes the perfect hunting ground for anglers looking to test their lines.

Registrations begin at 3pm on the Friday with fishing starting from 6pm and ending at 8.30am on Sunday. Presentations for the weekend will then start at 12 noon

Nomination forms are available at Atherton Tackle and Bait and online via Try Booking links a www.tinaroobarrabash.com.au.

With perfect weather and a dam full of fish make you to Tinaroo this weekend.
