No show for promised Devils vs Roosters Match
The Atherton Roosters pre-season trial match against the Byron Bay Red Devils on March 21 has been cancelled.
The Atherton Roosters pre-season trial match against the Byron Bay Red Devils on March 21 has been cancelled.
The Devils were set to face off against the Atherton Roosters at their home ground on Saturday, March 21 with ex-rooster Todd Carney leading the charge as the captain/coach for the Devils.
The match has since been cancelled due to poor player numbers at the Devils pre-season training.
The Roosters are now searching for another team to fill the spot and are putting a call out to any interested team outside of the CDRL to play a trial match at Mungali Creek Stadium on March 21.
Senior Roosters coach Graham Clark Snr Is disappointed about the no show Devils but still hopes to fill the spot and get some more experience in before the season starts.
“We are extremely disappointed about the Devils, we were really looking forward to playing a new team,” he said.
“We were playing an unseen side so it would’ve been a great test for the boys.
“We are currently searching for another out of town team to play.”
