WITH four unanswered goals the Mareeba Bulls Premier Reserves clinched the FNQ Football Premiership on Saturday night at Pennell Field, Trinity Beach.

The team has now booked their bus trip to Townsville for a crack at the Crad Evans Shield in November.

Against a lackluster Marlin Coast Rangers outfit, the Bulls had only one thing in mind and that was Townsville.

Damian Wildman, scored twice to enhance his prospects of top goal scorer for the season with Justin Sabbadin and Steve Cater putting the icing on the cake.

Coach Dennis Allen was full of praise for the team, especially after winning back to back premierships backing up from last year with a match to spare.

“I’m not going to say too much, but we have an opportunity to give the treble another shake this year and with this group of players we should get close to it,” he said.

In the Premier Men’s match against Marlin Coast (MCR), the Bulls had a nervous but composed opening period, but the nerves were put to rest in the fourteenth minute when Dylan Cummings put away the first goal of the match.

It was plain sailing from then on as the Rangers showed why they were at the bottom of the table.

The Bulls put the game to bed in the seventy fourth minute when Dean Alterio put the game beyond reach.

Mareeba has a tricky final match next weekend at home against Premiers Edge Hill United but should make the last four regardless of the result to see them in the finals.

In other matches the Premier Ladies had a 6-3 win over JCU with Kalinau scoring four and Cater the other two and are now set to play finals football again this season.

A loss to MCR in the Youth Division puts the young bulls premiership hopes in tatters and will need to win next weekend and hope other results go their way to secure the premiership for 2020.

The Men’s Second Division had a 3-0 win over the Leichhardt Lions while the Men’s Third Division had a 3-2 loss to the Lions but will still see finals football this season.

The Ladies Premier Reserves won 3-1 against JCU and the Mareeba Colts had a 5-2 win over the Atherton Eagles.

The final round of all competitions will be played out this weekend with the Bulls hosing the Edge Hill Tigers on Saturday.
