Two Tablelands teams have recently taken out the top podium spots in the latest round of High School Team Sailing.

The Atherton State High School (ASHS) Blitz and the Tableland Tigers both participated in the latest round of the sailing competition at Tinaroo Dam on Sunday March 15, with Atherton Blitz claiming the first spot and the Tablelands Tigers were the runner ups.

ASHS students have been training since September last year in preparation for this 2020 High School Team Sailing Season.

Father and son team Duncan and Peter MacGregor have been tutoring the teams for six months using their combined sailing experience.

Coach Peter MacGregor has pulled upon his 20 years of sailing experience to help steer the two tableland teams to podium finishes.

“It was absolutely fantastic to see both of the teams finish on the podium,” he said.

“We did a lot of work last year and early this year leading into the competition.”

The rest of the High School Sailing Season has been postponed due to COVID-19, the winner of the finals will get the chance to represent Queensland at the Australian Nationals later on in the year.
