Local studs Open Day ready with 11 breeds on display this Sunday
Top studs across the region are set to open their gates this Sunday, August 15 for the third annual Tablelands Better Beef Open Day.
A RECORD 13 studs will welcome visitors from 9am to 5pm for one day only and with 11 different breeds on display it is the perfect opportunity for producers to assess a host of options.
The sustained strength in the beef cattle market provides the ideal backdrop for breeders to upgrade their seedstock during the 2021 Open Day.
Record cattle prices and more favourable seasons have sparked a much-needed rebuild in the national female herd.
This is resulting in many breeders seeking to improve the quality of their product by divesting surplus animals (such as cull cows or older bulls) and investing in the latest genetics on offer.
The annual event is going from strength to strength and this year will feature an array of elite seedstock with stud and herd bulls as well as females on display and for sale.
This Sunday’s Open Day follows the same format as previous years with visitors free to travel at their leisure from property to property, based on their preferences for cattle breeds.
