The Dairy hits the city

THE Tablelands finest dairy producers, Mungalli Creek Dairy, has travelled 130 kilometres down the hill to Cairns to open their brand new “The Dairy” ice creamery and milk bar on the Esplanade.

The well loved dairy business will be opening its ice creamery will officially open on October 9, with a range of ice creams, coffees, smoothies, toasties, and croissants for the enjoyment of the public.

Manager Beth Watson, daughter and niece of the owners of Mungalli Creek Dairy, will be in charge of “The Dairy” on Shield Street and said it is a great opportunity to source local organic products from the Tablelands and reach the Cairns community.

“We released the ice cream a year ago and the support we gained was incredible and we wanted a presence in Cairns,” she said. 

“We also thought it would be really great if we got an ice cream shop and great to highlight the rest of our products.

“We want to support local produce and baked goods as much as possible.”

Ms Watson said she is encouraging people to come along with a friend to the official opening on October 9, with a buy one get one free opportunity. 

“We encourage everyone to bring a dairy loving friend for our buy one get one free on the opening day,” she said. 

“We would really like people to come and say hello and get to know us and build that community nature in our little business.” 

The official opening day for “The Dairy” will take place at their store at 1 Shield Street, adjacent to McDonalds, and will be open from 6am until 10pm daily.
