Brisbane based, local comedian, Georgina Humphries, who has been making a name for herself on the southern circuit, will perform her new standup routine at Millaa and Malanda in one off shows on New Years Eve and January 7.

Ms Humphries has been making her mark on the Brisbane comedy scene and is determined to put her small rural town of Millaa Millaa on the map.

At 23, she has become a regular at the Sit Down Comedy Club in Brisbane and has appeared numerous times on ABC Radio Brisbane as a guest panelist.

Performing at several comedy shows each week, Georgina is passionate about bringing tales of small town life and rural antics to city crowds during her time on stage.

After qualifying for the State Finals of Triple J’s Class Clowns in 2015 and later being selected as a semi-finalist for RAW Comedy Queensland, Georgina realised that the life of a chicken farmer wasn’t her destiny.

Daughter of a fourth generation dairy, she traded in her gumboots for a microphone and moved to the city in 2016.

Determined to chase her dream of becoming a standup comedian, she says she won’t stop until ‘the cows come home!’ Growing up on a Millaa buffalo farm, life was destined to be far from “the norm” for Georgina.

Stories about being bucked off buffaloes and rounding up prize chickens, are great fodder for her on stage act, giving her plenty to 'crow' about!

Her unwavering love of chickens and passion for telling small town stories to big city audiences, has led to her being referred in comedy circles as the “Spring Chicken” of the Brisbane comedy scene and now, “The Thriller from Millaa Millaa” – a real feather in her cap. Fresh from one of her 2021 career highlights, supporting a well-known Melbourne comedian in front of a sold out crowd of 500 at an Event Cinema, Ms Humphries plans to continue her Christmas/New Year Tableland performance tradition.

“The Thriller from Millaa Millaa” will be the third show which Georgina has written and dedicated to her home town. After taking her quirky and light-hearted humour to audiences from Cairns to Brisbane, the Gold Coast, Sunshine Coast and down to NSW, she said: “There's nothing in the world I love more than my home town (sorry Mum!).

“To have the chance to perform standup comedy to the amazing community who raised me is priceless and to me is the most special thing in the world.

“It takes a village to raise a child and the small town of Millaa Millaa to raise this up-and-coming comedian.”
