Vandals cost town

VANDALISM continues to cost Mareeba ratepayers, with the Shire Council spending more than $20,500 so far this financial year to repair damage.

In November and December alone, the Mareeba CWA Toilets and restroom in Byrnes Street was targeted 14 times.

Figures presented to council shows expenditure of around $14,000 a year on vandalism, except for the 2020-21 year when council spent more than $62,000 to repair damage and clean off graffiti.
