This event has been running for the past 12 years and it appears that this, its final year, has been the most successful yet. Although the final tally has not been finalised, organisers expect the total amount raised to be well in excess of $40,000.

The beneficiaries of the event this year are Police Legacy, Yungaburra Lions Palliative Care Scheme, Community Supporting Police, Atherton Girl Guides and Scouts and several families within our local community who are in need of some financial assistance due to serious medical conditions.

Nearly 170 from Atherton Tablelands, Cairns and as far away as Townsville participated in the event, with fundraising getting off to a cracking start on the day when $5,600 raised from the auctioning of the 16 Atherton Golf Club hire carts, demonstrating the huge generosity of the people and businesses within our community.

There was some great golf played by the 168 participants and with the event being a 4-ball Ambrose, some great scores were achieved.

The winning team for the day with a gross score of 59 was Steve Bakss, Joel Nagy, Brad Fleming and Greg Lee – with six consecutive birdies on the back nine holes.

This is the final round of the Cops & Robbers Charity Golf Day which has been going for 12 years and has been an opportunity for the community to come together once a year to play golf and raise money for many organisations and families in need of some financial assistance during tough times.

Up until this year, the event had raised $210,000, and it is believed that when the counting is complete for 2022, this figure climb to over $250,000.

Organisers wish to thank all the volunteers that assisted on the day and the Atherton Golf Club, in particular Nicky, Cheryl and Pup.
