Mac Whitaker, a local born and bred Millaa boy, organised the ride because the closure of the Palmerston Highway was having such an adverse impact on the town.

The cyclists completed the waterfall circuit and enjoyed the spectacular views of the magnificent countryside before returning to the township and enjoying the hospitality of the local businesses.

“It’s a great way to show our support and bring a bit of business to the town” Mac said.

“The closure of the Palmerston Highway is terrible for the town however every cloud has a silver lining and the removal of cars and trucks from the highway has created a wonderful area in which to cycle.

“Hopefully other cyclists will make the trip to Millaa Millaa and enjoy everything the town and countryside has to offer.”

The local cycling group plans to return to Millaa Millaa before the highway reopens which is expected to be mid-February.
