Queensland Health has released a COVID-19 checklist for recurrent markets.

This impacts both outdoor and indoor markets in regards to infection control training, record keeping and general practices. Yungaburra and Malanda Market co-ordinators have been working together with Tablelands Regional Council (TRC) Health officer Paul Le-Gear and QLD Health, in order to help facilitate the required changes.

Nicole Willinger, co-ordinator of the Yungaburra Markets said considering how many of the stallholders attend multiple markets, it would be of great benefit if all the Tablelands markets had blanket stallholder requirements, and that the advertising of public notices should work in the same way.

“It’s important that everybody receives the correct information and that help is available to those who require it in order to be COVID compliant,” she said.

“The easiest way for us to manage this is to have uniform documentation and advertising. That way, no matter which market people are attending, either as a stallholder, facilitator or patron, we should all be on the same page.”

The next Yungaburra markets will be held on November 28 and the next Malanda Markets are on December 19.
