Champion golfers crowned at open
GOLFERS flocked to the greens at the Mareeba Golf Club recently for their annual two-day Steggles Mareeba Open Championship, competing for the open champion’s crown.

The competition took place over the first weekend of April and saw plenty of talented golfers putting their swings to the test.
The open champions and those who finish towards the top of the leader board gain points towards a year long player of the year award set to be awarded by the FNQ Golfers Association.
Scott Sibson and Amber Barker were crowned the open male and female champions with Phil Henricks and Cecily Atkinson walking away as senior champions while Tom Whittle and Angel Pizzizchemi were named junior champions.
The next open championship is the Carpentaria Open Championship due to be held in Weipa on 30 April and 1 May.
