A SELECT number of young Mareeba netballers will get the chance to travel to the Sunshine Coast to compete after local business Mareeba Toyota has shown their support in the form of a donation.

$1000 was donated by Mareeba Toyota to the Mareeba Netball U15 side to help foot their travel costs after 10 of the girls were selected to play from July 2 to 6 on the Sunshine Coast in the Nissan State Age Championships.

The call was put out to Mareeba Netball for any U12 to U15 girls who wanted to trial for the chance to go away, 10 U15 girls were selected from Mareeba making it a full Mareeba side.

Manager of the Mareeba Netball U15 State Age side, Kylie Campman, said that the club was grateful of the support of Mareeba Toyota, enabling the girls to participate in this amazing opportunity.

“We are very appreciative of Mareeba Toyota donating $1000 to the girls to help them go away,” Mrs Campman said.

“It’s awesome without it we wouldn’t have been able to take the girls down, every little bit helps.”

Sales Manager at Mareeba Toyota Andrew Ford was happy to support Mareeba Netball and give the girls a chance to play outside of their current competition.

“We’re just happy to see kids get selected in teams, go away an compete against other teams,” he said.

“I loved going away to play sports when I was a kid, sports are good for every kid, it's a good way to either meet new people or have a look outside the bubble.

“It’s all about meeting new people, meeting new teammates and competing against a different quality of players.”
