SINCE starting nearly a year ago, Comedy Tours has snowballed into a multi-functional comedy extravaganza with more tours and ideas being added to be enjoyed by locals and visitors.
Ida Portella, a well-known thespian, had the idea for the Comedy Tours last year while the region was in the crux of COVID.
With little to no tourists to be seen the decision was made to advertise local tourism with a gut busting comedic twist.
Now nearly a year on and COVID a whisper in the night, local Comedy Tours have continued to grow and expand adding new tours for people to enjoy.
Mrs Portella could never have imagined that the Comedy Tours would have exploded into something amazing and enjoyed by so many.
“To be honest when I started it was more to get everyone doing something because there wasn’t much on, particularly in the way of entertainment,” she said.
“We pretty much do everything, the point of difference is that all our tours will include comedy actors.”
Ideas for new tours and new characters are always being boiled in the comedic kitchen so there is always something new for people to enjoy.
“It’s really important to be innovative and come up with different ideas and different experiences for people,” Mrs Portella said.
“I did not expect it to be so popular.
“People genuinely like to get out and I try and make the tours good value for money.”
Recently the actors enjoyed brunch with locals at the Mt Uncle Distillery for a country brunch and a fun night event was held at the BV Hotel in Atherton on Saturday.
