THE inaugural make, bake and grow markets hosted at Mareeba’s Centenary Park have been hailed a massive success with many stallholders completely selling out of their produce and products.

The inaugral make, bake and grow market day hosted at Mareeba Centenary Park has been hailed a success.

Hosted by the Mareeba Art Society and Mareeba Historical Society, the market day has been established on the second and fifth Saturday of every month, taking over from the previous markets which have relocated to the Mareeba Turf Club.

Stallholders filled out the leased land of both the organisations with their own homemade products that they either made, baked or grew.

Merilyn Holmes from the Mareeba Art Society said it was great to see so much support from marketgoers for the new markets.

“Some people came to support us others were regular market goers and we had every available stall site on our lease filled with more people wanting to have their own stalls,” she said.

“A lot of stall holders sold out of their produce and everyone seemed really happy, people said there was everything they needed from a market.

“We are hoping that we will get the same support at our next market this Saturday 13 August.”
