20 years, $8 million given back
AN incredible $8 million has been given back to the community throughout the two decades the Mareeba and Dimbulah Community Banks have been operating, which was celebrated at its recent anniversary dinner.

The local branches of Bendigo Bank celebrated its 20-year milestone with an incredible achievement – $8 million given back in two decades and over $1 million in 2025 alone.
The bank has supported various local clubs, schools, scholarships, and community projects in its time. Over 150 people, including grant recipients, attended its anniversary event to celebrate all the bank has done for the community.
Branch manager Stephen Gear said the bank remains committed to continuing its investment in local people in Mareeba and Dimbulah.
“As we look to the future, we remain focused on supporting initiatives that make a real difference in our community,” he said.
“Our success belongs to the customers that support us, and the more support we have the more we can give back to the community. We’re excited about what the next decade will bring.”
When the Mareeba and Dimbulah branches first opened the doors in 2005, the bank set out to be more than just a financial institution. From the very beginning the bank’s vision was clear: to serve, support, and grow alongside the communities it calls home.
Two decades later, that vision hasn’t changed. In fact, it has only grown stronger – the bank was built by the community and continues to help grow the community.
Chair Ronda Stevens said the milestone is a testament to the strength and unity of the community.
“Reaching 20 years is significant in itself, but giving back over $8 million truly shows what can be achieved when locals bank locally. Every customer, shareholder and supporter has contributed to this impact,” she said.
The celebration event included documentary-style videos telling the story of how the bank was built and how it has helped grow the community. It was also a chance for the bank to acknowledge the milestone and thank the community for their continued trust and support.
